Cuphead. One of the most elusive titles announced for the Xbox One and PC.

With so many titles scheduled to hit this year, 2017 is lined up to be a great year for movie buffs and gamers alike. Today, we are looking at 11 of the games we are excited for that are set to arrive in 2017. A few titles don’t have a pegged release date, but they are slated for 2017. Those titles are still being included because they’re awesome looking, even if they get pushed to 2018 and beyond!

1.) Horizon: Zero Dawn

Platform(s): PlayStation 4
Release Date: February 28, 2017

Developed by Guerilla Games, the creators of the Killzone franchise, Horizon: Zero Dawn is at the top of our list for most anticipated game of 2017. It promises to be a massive open-world game set in a post apocalyptic world ruled by robotic dinosaur creatures. Epic story, strong character, beautiful environment (powered by the proprietary Decima engine), lots of weapons and RPG-style skill mechanics — check, check, check and check. Not to mention, this game fully supports the PlayStation 4 Pro and 4K, so an assault on the senses is confirmed.

2.) NieR: Automata

Platform(s): PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
Release Date: March 7, 2017

From the masters of hack-in-slash gameplay, PlatinumGames, comes this hot little title that can only be described as a love child between God of War and some Japanese anime. From the demo we played, it’s fast, frantic and beautiful. Lots of gunplay, strategy and screen-filling bosses can be found here.

3.) Mass Effect: Andromeda

Platform(s): PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
Release Date: March 21, 2017

Mass Effect is returning. Conversations, romance, gunplay, creatures, exploration — it’s all supposed to be here. BioWare has kept the details pretty light, but everything they have shown so far looks incredible. Prepare to lose dozens of hours of your life in what will hopefully turn out to be an opus for the generation.

4.) Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy

Platform(s): PlayStation 4
Release Date: Early 2017

He’s back! After incredible demand, Sony has partnered with Activision to bring back Crash Bandicoot back to PlayStation, the unofficially official mascot of PlayStation in the 90s. This special release will feature the first three games entirely rebuilt from the ground-up with fresh mechanics and graphics. If you don’t know Crash, we can’t help you. We’re pumped!

5.) Yooka-Laylee

Platform(s): PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
Release Date: April 11, 2017

From some of the creator behind the N64 classic, Banjo-Kazooie, comes a sort of spiritual successor to the adventurous franchise. What became one of the most successful fundraisings in Kickstarter history has become one of our anticipated titles of 2017. We can’t get enough 3D platformers!

6.) Prey

Platform(s): PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
Release Date: May 5, 2017

The highly anticipated follow up to the original Prey released back when the Xbox 360 first came to market is finally right around the corner. But with this release, Arkane Studios (creators of Dishonored) have wiped the slate and rebooted the title. This time, you are struggling to survive in isolation on an abandoned ship, surrounded by creatures ready to devour you.

7.) Farpoint

Platform(s): PlayStation VR
Release Date: TBD 2017

On the VR front, Farpoint is definitely the must-have title we are looking forward to getting on PlayStation VR. A full FPS game, in VR, in space, with aliens and a peripheral shaped like a rifle to hold the Move controls. Count us in!

8.) Days Gone

Platform(s): PlayStation 4
Release Date: TDB 2017

Not much is known about Days Gone, at all. But it’s from Sony’s Bend Studio, the creators of Syphon Filter. Throw their experience in with the post apocalyptic setting where hundreds of zombies are chasing you through a ratchet building and you have the start to a winning recipe.

9.) God of War

Platform(s): PlayStation 4
Release Date: TBD 2017

Kratos returns! Dropping the classic Roman setting that God of War made it’s mark on and replacing it within the world of Norse mythology is just one of the many changes this franchise is making to it’s famous formula. Kratos has a son?? Moderately open world?? Show us more, Sony!

10.) Crackdown 3

Platform(s): Xbox One, PC
Release Date: TBD 2017

At this point we feel like Crackdown 3 is practically vapor ware since it’s announcement about 3 years ago, but we can’t help but feel excited for this great little open world franchise. The selling point of this entry into the series is the new engine that uses ‘cloud computing’ to create 100% dynamically destructible environments. Here, let me blow this bridge away to make you a ramp up that tower. Sweet!

11.) Cuphead

Platform(s): Xbox One, PC
Release Date: TBD 2017

Cuphead has been on the top of the list of hotly anticipated Xbox titles for a while now, for a lot of people. Hand drawn animations with challenging platformer mechanics is just the tip of this sweet, retro-style iceberg. Now, if only the damn thing would finally come out. It’s been years since it’s initial announcement!
